Alison Crake is a partner at Crake and Mallon Funeral Directors in Stockton-on-Tees.
Alison has worked in the funeral profession since 1979, in the company that was established by her late father in 1971. She now leads a team of 28 members of staff who collectively arrange and conduct in the region of a thousand funerals a year.
Alison has been a member of the NAFD’s Committee for Professional Development since 2010 and a member of the Executive since 2012. A focus on professional education, and on supporting funeral directors in caring for the needs of bereaved families, will be key themes running through her presidency.
Chief Executive Officer
Former nurse and barrister Mandie Lavin joined the NAFD as Chief Executive Officer in September 2016.
Mandie joined the Association from her previous role as CEO of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, bringing with her significant experience of working in trade associations having acted as Director of Regulation at the General Optical Council and run the Bar Standards Board, where she helped to establish the independence of the regulator within the Bar Council.
In a range of roles previous roles across the pharmacy, accountancy and the law Mandie has held responsibility for education, regulation, standards and ethics. She remains a member of Middle Temple, having qualified as a barrister in 1993 following an earlier career on the front line of the NHS at Guys Hospital in London.
